Atlas Copco and Pennine Pneumatic Services Showcase Pathway to Net Zero with Energy Efficient Solutions at Water Equipment Show

Pennine Pneumatic Services is set to showcase Atlas Copco’s energy efficient blowers and compressors at the Water Equipment Show on 15 May, technology that is supporting the UK water sector’s pathway to net zero. Pennine Pneumatic Services, part of Atlas Copco UK, will be exhibiting on stand G11 at The Telford International Centre, where it will demonstrate equipment that is specifically designed to reduce energy consumption and lower operating costs in water and wastewater treatment plants.

Atlas Copco’s energy efficient aeration blowers will be featured on the stand. The range includes the ZS3 and ZS4 oil-free rotary screw blowers, engineered with an optimised internal compression process that delivers a consistent, oil-free air stream critical for effective aeration. These models are designed to accommodate variable airflow demands while keeping energy use and maintenance costs to a minimum. In addition, the ZL1 oil-free rotary lobe blower will be on display. It offers a reliable, cost-effective solution with a compact design that simplifies installation.

Both blower technologies play a crucial role in reducing the significant energy footprint of wastewater treatment operations - a need underscored by the Water UK Net Zero 2030 Routemap, which highlights high efficiency blowers as part of a technology led pathway to reducing carbon emissions.

Also on stand G11, Pennine Pneumatic Services will present the GA11VSDsFF compressor. The VSDs screw compressor range automatically adjusts motor speed to closely match air demand, delivering reductions in  energy use of up to 60% (compared to a fixed speed GA model) and reduced carbon emissions.

“In many wastewater treatment plants, air blowers account for up to 70% of a facility’s energy use – a shocking figure that highlights the urgent need for efficiency improvements,” said Andy Martlew, National Sales Manager, Pennine Pneumatic Services. “Our energy efficient low pressure blowers and compressors deliver tangible energy savings and support the water sector’s net zero ambitions.”

Pennine and Atlas Copco’s participation in the event, organised by The Pump Centre, reaffirms their commitment to providing practical, energy saving solutions that help wastewater treatment plants lower their carbon footprint and move closer to achieving net zero by 2030.
