Turkiye Petrolleri A O
(TPAO), the Turkish national oil company, has awarded
AMEC Paragona contract to provide front-end engineering design (FEED) for a natural gas drilling and wellhead platform.
The Houston-based subsidiary of AMEC will carry out the work for a rig based in the Western Black Sea near
AMEC aims to expand gas production capacity of the platform by 35 per cent to 2.1 million cubic metres per day. At present the capacity is achieved via three minimal tripods, but AMEC’s work will involve the installation of a new four-legged platform in 95m of water over two existing exploratory wells. Furthermore, TPAO plans to drill up to four more production wells from the same platform.
After FEED, AMEC Paragon expects to provide detailed engineering and construction management for the platform facilities, pipeline and drilling rig.
As operator for the Akcakoca Gas Field Development Project, TPAO holds a 51 per cent share in the development, while US-based Toreador Resources and Canada-based Stratic Energy are joint venture partners.
