Siemens contract good on paper
The Siemens Industrial Solutions and Services Group has received an order to modernise a paper machine for Goricane, tovarna papirja Medvode, a company in Slovenia.

The paper machine is to be fitted with new AC drives, including the power supply and operating equipment. The order is worth €1 million and completion of the modernisation work is scheduled for early summer 2006.
The factory has been in existence since 1740 and its paper machine has a net width of 3.7m and a speed of 800m/min. The annual production capacity is 80,000 tonnes.
To improve the quality, the paper machine is being equipped with a new top wire and two new calenders (roller paper smoothing equipment). After modernisation, the paper machine will operate at a speed of 1000m/min and its capacity will be increased to around 85,000 tonnes per year.
Siemens is supplying 18 new AC motors with a total output of 1457kW as well as the associated switchgear for the multiple-motor drive of the paper machine. It will also supply the control system, an operator station, a visualisation system and three pump dives.
