Shielded for space

Vishay has released of a new surface-mount, wirewound, shielded inductor that enables easy surface mounting in close proximity to other components on the assembly board.

today announced the release of a new surface-mount, wirewound, shielded inductor that is said to enable easy surface mounting in close proximity to other components on the assembly board.

The new ISC-1008 from Vishay Dale is intended for use in medium- to low-frequency resonant circuits for higher-current applications in notebooks, PCs, flash memory devices, converters, and other electronic systems.

In addition to shielding that enables manufacture of more compact end products, the new inductor reportedly features excellent solderability and resistance to soldering heat. As a result, designers can integrate greater functionality on available board space without compromising the overall performance and reliability of the end product.

A wide range of inductance ratings is available for the ISC-1008 inductor, with values (at 100KHz) ranging from 1.0µH to 1000µH. Standard tolerance is ±20% over this range, and rated current ranges from 1000mA to 30mA.

The ISC-1008 occupies dimensions of 0.142 in. by 0.142 in. [3.6mm by 3.6mm] with a height of 0.098 in. [2.50mm]. The inductor, which features a ferrite construction with a magnetic shield, is rated for an operating temperature range of –40 degrees C to +85 degrees C and is both 100% lead free and RoHS compliant. It is suitable for reflow soldering and provided in tape-and-reel packaging to enable automatic handling.
