The turbines will be deployed at the 250MW Cedar Point wind project, located approximately 80 miles east of Denver in Colorado.
Construction of the Cedar Point wind project is presently underway and is expected to be commercially operational in 2011. Once completed it will be the second-largest wind project in Colorado.
For its part, energy company Enbridge has entered into an agreement with RES Americas, under which a US affiliate of Enbridge will own and operate the 250MW Cedar Point wind-energy project.
Enbridge’s investment in the project will be approximately $500m (£330m) and Broomfield, Colorado-based RES Americas will construct it under a fixed-price engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract to Enbridge.
The project will deliver electricity by a 42-mile transmission line to the Public Service Company of Colorado (PSCo) electricity-transmission grid under a 20-year fixed-price power-purchase agreement.
Vestas will provide operations and maintenance services under a five-year fixed-price service, maintenance and warranty agreement.
