Once completed, the wind farm will have an installed capacity of about 100MW. Siemens will begin installation of the 43 wind turbines in June 2011.
In November 2009, Siemens was also contracted to supply 43 2.3MW wind turbines for RES Canada’s Talbot wind-energy project near Chatham, Ontario.
The scope for both wind-energy plants includes supply and commissioning of the wind turbines, and a five-year service, maintenance and warranty agreement.
This week, Siemens Energy also announced that it had been contracted by EWE and ENOVA to supply 30 3.6MW wind turbines for the Riffgat wind farm in the North Sea. With a total installed capacity of 108MW, this wind farm will start supplying electricity in late 2012.
Under the terms of the contract, Siemens will install, connect and commission the wind turbines, and perform maintenance for an initial period of five years.
