Goodrich Corporation has been chosen by Embraer to provide the SmartProbe Air Data System for the Phenom 300 business jet.
The system will provide all primary air data information required by the aircraft. The award is expected to generate approximately $20m in original equipment and aftermarket revenues over the life of the program.
The SmartProbe air data architecture is said to offer several benefits over traditional air data systems including built-in stall protection functionality.
By integrating multi-function sensing probes, pressure sensors and processing capability, the total number of discrete sensor installations is reduced, reliability is improved and overall weight and drag are lowered. According to Goodrich, the Embraer Phenom operators will benefit through increased reliability and reduced ownership costs.
