Alstom has won a contract worth over €300m from CyCoFos, a subsidiary of Gaz de France, to supply two turnkey power plants in Fos-sur-Mer, situated near
The first plant will be a 425MW turnkey gas-fired combined cycle plant based on GT26 technology, which will be one of the largest of its kind in
The second will be a turnkey 65 MW steam plant located at the same site. It will burn waste gas from a steel plant owned by Sollac, a subsidiary of steel group Arcelor, and convert it into electricity. The gas used will be blast furnace gas, which is currently being burned away. The plant key components include a conventional boiler, air-cooled turbogenerator, instrumentation and control systems.
Both plants are scheduled to come into commercial operation by the end of October 2008.
For this contract, Alstom has developed an integrated power solution to meet CyCoFos’ requirements of having two different power plants, using different fuels and supplying energy in a short time frame. Alstom will use many of the same components in both plants to simplify future maintenance requirements.
Alstom has already supplied Gaz de France with an 800MW gas-fired power plant located in
