AMEC buys OEST

AMEC, the global project management and engineering company, has announced the £5.9m cash acquisition of OEST Associations.

OEST is a US engineering and architecture company with more than 100 public and private sector clients.

The deal is expected to strengthen AMEC’s operations in mechanical, electrical, civil and structural engineering, as well as its resources in civil engineering and sustainable design.

AMEC has acquired eight other consultancy businesses since January 2007 and hopes to further its expansion in the US.

Its most recent purchase forms part of AMEC’s strategy to grow its Earth and Environmental division and will provide the company with an additional Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) skills base.

Roger Jinks, president of AMEC's Earth and Environmental division, said: ‘OEST is a great fit, geographically and strategically.

‘It doubles AMEC's presence in New England and provides the facility design and architectural skills necessary for many federal contracts.’

OEST will continue to operate under its existing trade name until the licensure conversions are complete.
