Alstom awarded €190m

Alstom Hydro has signed a contract worth €190m with Electricity of Vietnam (EVN), to provide the electro-mechanical equipment for a hydro power plant in Son La.

The contract was signed in Paris by Philippe Cochet, president of Alstom Hydro, and Pham Le Thanh, president and CEO of EVN.

With a planned capacity of 2400MW, the plant will be the largest hydro power plant in South-East Asia. Once completed, the Son La hydro power plant is expected to generate ten billion kWh per year and will meet a significant part of the country’s growing energy needs.

Alstom Hydro will design, engineer, manufacture and deliver six 400MW Francis turbines and generators, balance of plant (BOP), as well as training and supervision of installation, testing and commissioning.
