Bombardier Transportation
has received a 10-year contract to operate and maintain the Automated People Mover (APM) system, also known as the automated guideway transit system (AGTS), at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport in Atlanta, Georgia.
The contract is valued at approximately $98 million and contains provisions for two additional five-year renewal options.
The Airport’s Bombardier CX-100 system operates 20 hours a day, seven days a week. The 49-vehicle fleet moves an average of 225,000 passengers daily between the landside terminal and the five airside concourses, with a two-minute wait time between trains at its 14 stations.
Since 1980, Bombardier has operated and maintained the Bombardier-built APM system, including the supply of system expansions, a route extension to a new international concourse and 24 CX-100 replacement vehicles.
Ben DeCosta, Aviation General Manager, City of Atlanta, commented: “As the world's busiest airport, the AGTS is vital to our ability to efficiently move airport passengers and employees throughout the Central Passenger Terminal. Bombardier's operations and maintenance has resulted in virtually zero down time."
