The frictional properties of contact lenses are extremely important for proper application in everyday life. Several attempts have been made to characterise the tribological properties of contact lenses but there is no general conclusion as to how these properties should be tested.
This application report presents the results of a tribological study using the Anton Paar Nanotribometer for characterisation of soft contact lenses. The measurement methodology is presented and the influence of load and sliding speed on the coefficient of friction is discussed.
