When an existing customer of Motion Control and Robotics specialists YASKAWA Motoman was looking to source a robotic welding system to help them dramatically increase production of products for the NHS, Yaskawa delivered a solution in super-quick time.
Dorset based Hospital Metalcraft Ltd, which trades as Bristol Maid, manufactures a range of medical furniture, equipment and accessories which is used by the NHS. With the aim of dramatically ramping up production, they asked Yaskawa if they could help with the supply of a robotic welding system with a target for delivery in only 4 weeks, rather than the normal 14 weeks. As the ultimate application was to help manufacture products for the NHS as part of the fight to defeat coronavirus, the Yaskawa teams willingness to help, combined with their ‘can-do’ attitude, meant the answer was ‘yes’.
Whether carrying out essential work on-site or working from home Yaskawa has pulled together people, equipment and resources not just from the UK, but from across Europe. This, along with help from their own suppliers, has resulted in a real team-effort with everyone having a part to play
Commenting on the recent Hospital Metalcraft - Bristol Maid project, UK Sales & Marketing Manager Jonny Grey said, “Yaskawa Motoman offers manufacturers a wide range of robotic systems and when we were asked to contribute toward such an important project within such a tight time schedule, we were delighted to deliver a solution”.
