Mouser Electronics, Inc. is now stocking USB Type-C solutions from Molex. These new space-saving receptacles and plugs — as well as cable options, now orderable from Mouser — provide data, power, and audio/video connectivity and transmission in a single solution. The connectors are fully compliant with USB Type-C specifications and are designed to be small enough for handheld devices yet robust enough for automotive and industrial applications.
The Molex USB Type-C connectors, available from Mouser Electronics, feature a reversible mating interface designed to accept a plug in any direction, enabling easy, reliable mating. The connectors support a variety of protocols and, with the use of adapters, are backwards-compatible to HDMI, VGA, DisplayPort and other types of connections from the single USB Type-C port. The connectors support scalable power charging, delivering up to 5A (3A max. for the cables), and meet USB 3.1 protocols, giving them high throughput speeds up to 10Gbps plus backward-compatibility with USB 3.1 Gen 1 and Gen 2, as well as USB 2.0.
Molex’s USB Type-C connectors feature a high-temperature nylon insert within the receptacle housing and a Mylar insert within the plug housing to increase connector strength and reduce potential shorting, even in high-frequency mating. The connectors are suitable for a variety of applications, including computing, telecommunications, power chargers, medical devices, automotive infotainment systems, smartphones and tablets, and wearable devices.
