Schaeffler has agreed to a long-term partnership agreement lasting 12 years with Rolls-Royce.
Dr Stefan Spindler, CEO of Industrial at Schaeffler, stated, “We are very proud that a company as large and important as Rolls-Royce has committed itself to us with such a long-running contract. Our two companies have achieved so much together. This is not only down to our expertise and quality demands, but also our common understanding of how business developments must take place in the future”.
Schaeffler will be 100% responsible for Rolls-Royce’s supply volume rolling bearings in Europe. Whilst offering its advanced rolling bearing systems for aircraft engines and supporting new development programmes.
The partnership starting in 2024 is based on cooperation of trust over the past years, driven by the dedication of the employees in both companies, as Armin Necker, Man-aging Director at Schaeffler Aerospace Germany, explains.
Warrick Matthews, CPO of Civil Aerospace at Rolls-Royce, adds: “Our goal is to con-sistently improve the supply chain of Rolls-Royce with a clear focus on the strong per-formance of our partners as well as the strict implementation of an eco-friendly, sus-tainable closed-loop economy. We’re ideally placed to achieve both things with our High-Performance Supplier, Schaeffler.”
With Rolls Royce and Schaeffler being the UN’s 50 Sustainability and Climate, the 12-year contract has intensified MRO (maintenance, repair and overhaul) activities which will cover the supply of refurbished bearings. This will help extend the lifecycles of product solutions and reduce CO2 emissions, in turn saving on significant amounts of resources.
