The automotive industry is faced with unrelenting cost pressure and the demand for ever shorter installation times as a result. To satisfy these requirements in the field of robot cabling, Weidmüller is offering FreeCon cable couplings for power, signal and PROFINET cabling.
FreeCon cable couplings are an alternative to the double junction boxes used previously. In cable assembly production it was the case that cables were previously pulled through the sleeve without plug-in connectors and installed afterwards. If any packaging defects came to light during subsequent testing then the entire cable assembly had to be sorted out and overhauled. This process is both time-consuming and costly.
The compact couplings are designed such that they fit through the cable assembly with the cable, so that tested and finished cables can be drawn through as a result. Separation into a compact design type significantly simplifies the cable assembly process in the automotive industry. Individual cables can also be replaced in the cable assemblies, which in turn translate into simpler repair, maintenance and servicing operations that are then reflected in the corresponding cost savings. The cable couplings can also be used together with the plug-in connectors as flying cable couplings in the field.
FreeCon makes robot cabling particularly quick and convenient. The cable couplings are characterised by both their sturdy metal housing with the IP67 protection degree and a short assembly time. Measuring 10mm thick, the retaining frame for the coupling boasts a robust design that enables sturdy and vibration-resistant assembly. The V14 cable couplings can easily be screwed together using an open-ended spanner.
There is a choice of cable couplings: RJ45 insert version, PushPull Power variant and hybrid variant.
