Grid indentation is a special nanoindentation technique for a wide range of multiphase materials. However, this method can be quite time consuming since it consists of performing many indentations.
The Quick matrix mode, which has recently been developed by Anton Paar for the Nanoindentation (NHT3) and Ultra Nanoindentation Tester (UNHT3), allows for performing hundreds of indents in less than one hour while maintaining high precision of each nanoindentation measurement.
The results of the Quick matrix mode can be directly analyzed by Gaussian fit to determine properties of each phase and a color mapping of mechanical properties can be obtained.
