PTFE hose for automotive applications

Since its recent acquisition by Watson-Marlow Fluid Technology Group (WMFTG), a series of significant new investments at West Yorkshire-based Aflex Hose has allowed the company to generate 25 per cent more capacity for automotive sector customers. In fact, these investments in both premises and capital equipment are already serving to strengthen the position of Aflex Hose as the world’s leading manufacturer of flexible PTFE hose for automotive applications.

Aflex utilises patented, market-leading technology to produce PTFE-lined flexible hose that outperforms other PTFE and standard hose types to ensure superior flexibility and the highest levels of resistance to automotive fluids. To help keep pace with growing demand for its advanced products, the company recently invested in a brand new facility at Elland that houses new braiding machines, as well as ancillary equipment. In addition, the company recently designed and manufactured a revolutionary new extruder for its Sowerby Bridge site, which is predominantly dedicated to the manufacture of PTFE tube used in automotive applications.

These major enhancements have been achieved with the full support of WMFTG, suitably demonstrating the commitment of Aflex Hose to the automotive sector. Moving forwards, the company now plans to recruit more sales staff to support its ever-expanding reach in automotive markets.

The Aflex range is used extensively on different types of vehicles. Applications include fuel lines for transfer, hydraulic high performance suspension systems and turbocharger oil-feed hose on more than three million production cars, as well as brake hose fitted on millions of cars, ATVs, race cars, trucks and motorbikes. The Aflex technology is widely adopted thanks to its smooth and convoluted-bore PTFE hose which has been designed to surpass the competition in the areas of durability, flexibility and temperature resistance. In fact, PTFE will outperform rubber, silicone and Nylon hose up to a factor of 5:1. Bore sizes are available from 2mm to 26mm.
