Moxa shows how to achieve safe and simple factory and process automation

Partner stand with PROFINET International: Hall 5, Booth 210

Moxa Europe GmbH, a leading company in the field of industrial communication and networking, will be presenting its latest industrial switches at SPS 2024 (November 12 to 14, 2024, in Nuremberg) at the partner stand of the PROFIBUS User Organization (PROFIBUS & PROFINET International), which offer both simple and secure solutions for modern industrial networks. Particular attention will be paid to the requirements of OT cybersecurity for critical infrastructures.

Smart switches for easy and secure network automation

Moxa’s SDS-3000/G3000 smart switches have been developed for users who want to upgrade from unmanaged to managed switches without sacrificing usability. With support for common industrial protocols such as PROFINET, Modbus, and EtherNet/IP, these switches allow an easy integration into existing networks while providing advanced safety functions like VLAN support and port control. The intuitive web GUI makes configuration easy, so that networks can not only be installed quickly, but also monitored and maintained in a secure way. The new models in the SDS Series are compact and ideal for space-saving applications such as control cabinets. They are equipped with 6, 10 and 12 ports and complement the existing 8- and 16-port models.

Enhanced network security for managed switches with MX-NOS firmware version 4.0

The Layer 2 managed switches in the EDS-4000/G4000 Series are characterized by industry-standard reliability, network redundancy, and safety functions. For example, the series is certified according to IEC 62443-4-2 Security Level 2. Other industrial certifications include NEMA TS2, EN 50121-4, IEC 61850-3/IEEE 1613 Class 1, DNV and ATEX, Class I Division 2. The EDS-4000/G4000 Series also features Turbo Ring and Turbo Chain, which enable fast network recovery and ensure smooth operation.

Most recently, the EDS-4000/G4000 Series also supports MX-NOS firmware version 4.0, which provides additional safety functions, diagnostic options, and enhanced features to future-proof industrial networks. MX-NOS is a firmware platform designed for Moxa’s next generation of Ethernet switches. The platform can be extended so that it is possible to add new features in the course of the device’s service life. MX-NOS also improves usability by ensuring that the switches offer consistent functionality and an intuitive user interface design. Due to the development life cycle, the quality and security of MX-NOS firmware comply with the IEC 62443 standard.

New features include:

Safety functions

• DHCP snooping

Diagnostic functions

• User-defined fiber check
• RSPAN port mirroring

Enhanced features

• MRP for network redundancy
• Support for Modbus TCP, EtherNet/IP and PROFINET
• IEEE 1588 PTP for time synchronization
