Your panel building processes have to be fast and efficient. That’s the only way you can become more productive and connectivity plays a decisive role in this regard, as the effort required for wiring is a considerable time factor. As your partner in Industrial Connectivity, Weidmuller considers panel building to be an integrated process – from the planning stage all the way to installation and operation. The latest example of this is Klippon® Connect. The offer – which consists of tailored application products, universal terminal blocks and process supporting services – provides you with productivity benefits at all stages of the panel building process.
You can increase your efficiency during installations without compromising on safety. The innovative PUSH IN technology reduces connection times for solid conductors and conductors with crimped-on wire-end ferrules by up to 50 percent compared to tension clamp terminals. The conductor is simply inserted into the contact point as far as the stop and that’s it – you have a safe, gas-tight connection. Even stranded-wire conductors can be connected without any problem and without the need for special tools.
Weidmuller’s aim is to produce application orientated products and solutions to help reduce installation time, save space and simplify product selection. They have studied panels across all industries and assessed common applications with a view to improve existing solutions and control voltage distribution is one such application.
With a greater amount of electronic equipment required in control panels the requirement for voltage distribution to downstream consumers in control voltage circuits is increased.
Often, a daunting number of conductors have to be wired in a very confined space. The traditional solution is to use two rows of 2.5mm2 feed-through terminals for potential distribution and this can utilise a lot of valuable space within the cabinet as well as leading to an increased risk of incorrect connections due to the large number of conductors required.
Weidmuller’s tailored Klippon® Connect AAP potential distribution terminals offers a structured power distribution within control voltage circuits. The considerable space saving and reduced wiring means you can guarantee supply to your panel equipment simply and effectively.
The modular concept can be tailored individually to each machine type, ensuring you get the best fit solution for your application. There are two possible set-ups - grouped and alternating - offering increased flexibility. In the grouped setup there are two individual feed-in terminals, one for the positive and one for the negative potential. Each feed-in terminal can then be cross-connected to the distribution terminals which contain up to 6 distribution points, creating a simple distribution matrix. In the alternating set-up, there are two different potentials located on one terminal, which can then be cross-connected to the distribution terminals which contain up to 3 connection points for each potential and thus saves additional space compared with conventional set-ups.
There are two different variants available starting with a feed in terminal suitable for 6mm2 cable and 1.5mm2 cable distribution terminals and the second option of a 10mm2 cable feed in terminal with 2.5mm2 cable distribution terminals. With the 1.5mm2 version being only 3.5mm wide, the space-saving potential is obvious, offering up to 50% more compact control voltage distribution.
Utilising PUSH-IN technology, the maximum time saving during the wiring process is achieved, as well as guaranteeing vibration-resistant and gas-tight connections. Coloured pushers provide clear identification of each potential and dual cross connection channels allow for flexible potential distribution.
To create an effective fast-track planning process the Weidmüller Configurator (WMC) tool can be downloaded for free and offers an easy configuration and request process. The Weidmüller Configurator is a software solution for selecting, configuring terminal rails and terminal rail components from the Weidmüller range. Utilising the application feature, Control Voltage Distribution rails are simple to build, automatically selecting the desire terminals and accessories once you know how many distribution points you require. Terminal rails, parts lists and documentation are all available at the click of a button.
The tool supports continuous engineering workflows – from planning with E-CAD to requirements and documentation as mentioned previously. The straighforward operation, a clear design and integration in your engineering systems make configuring terminal rails a simple, safe and convenient process. In addition, the extraordinary attention to detail during the terminal rail assembly process increases planning quality compared with E-CAD systems.
