Excelitas has recently launched CaliPile – a new range of intelligent compact infrared sensors capable of multiple sensing applications. CaliPile sensors combine a highly sensitive thermopile detector with onboard electronics that allows the sensors to be set into three distinct function modes - motion sensing, presence detection and temperature measurement.
CaliPile sensors are available in compact SMD housing as well as traditional TO metal case with either aperture window or IR focusing lens. The TPiS 1S 1385 is the most compact sensor in the new range, with an ultra-compact SMD housing. Requiring only three meters to achieve an effective range for human presence detection, with no additional lens requirement, the device features a wide field of view and low power consumption.
Applications for the CaliPile series include non-contact temperature measurement and overheating protection, short-range presence detection with no additional lens requirements, IoT and smart-home products, lighting and printer sensing, and general industry thermal IR detection.
