Mouser Electronics is now stocking the new Sensorshld1-EVK-101 Sensor Shield evaluation kit from Rohm Semiconductor. This second-generation Sensor Shield integrates 10 onboard sensors into a board with an Arduino Uno R3-compatible layout to ensure the kit works with existing open source prototyping platforms.

The Rohm Sensorshld11-EVK-101 Sensor Shield evaluation kit, available from Mouser Electronics, enables design engineers to create build a sensor environment for prototyping and initial set development for Internet of Things (IoT) and machine-to-machine (M2M) applications. The Sensor Shield removes the hardware and software challenges of switching out sensors by incorporating Rohm sensors on an Arduino Uno R3-compatible board: These sensors include: BDE0600G analogue temperature sensor; BU52014HFV omnipolar hall switch sensor with polarity discrimination; KX122 digital accelerometer; KXG03 digital gyroscope and accelerometer; ML8511A analogue ultraviolet (UV) light sensor; RPR-0521 digital ambient light sensor and proximity sensor; and BH1745 digital colour sensor.

In addition to these sensors, the board integrates a digital barometric pressure sensor, magnetometer, digital magnetometer and accelerometer, and digital microphone.

The Rohm Sensor Shield kit is compatible with many open source platforms, including the Intel Arduino 101 development board and NXP LPCXpresso541xx development tools, allowing engineers to evaluate sensor-based designs for industrial, automotive, connected home, and other applications.
