Welded joints are indispensable in the automotive and aviation industry. Welds usually combine metallic components to form a structure that is then assembled in production and assembly with other sub-assemblies. The welds must be able to withstand extreme loads as they are the weak points of the construction.
Weld seam inspection is thus a very important component in quality control and metallographic analysis. Buehler has developed its own software module for the DiaMet hardness testing software, which greatly simplifies welding seam measurements. Fully automatic Wilson VH3000 series hardness testers reduce the hassle of such a test to a minimum and save a lot of time for testing laboratories. See in the video how easy it is to perform a complete weld inspection.
