The advantages of turning assisted by coolants applied at high pressure through precision aimed jets is making a serious in-road throughout many types of turning operations. High pressure coolant availability is today a standard or optional part of most CNC machines and holds a serious productivity potential.
High pressure coolant (70 bar or more) is part of a majority of new machinery being available. This, and the development within tooling that has been ongoing for some years now, has meant that the role of coolants in machining is undergoing somewhat of a re-evaluation even when it comes to many less demanding component materials. Instead of being an unquestioned part of machining, an expense or at best a problem solver the technology of coolant application has moved on considerably.
