Astute Electronics, the leading supplier of electronic components and value added services, is taking miniaturisation to a new level with the C&K PTS830 series of SMT top-actuated switches with a high actuation force of up to 450gf. They provide reliable switching for wearable electronics, portable wireless devices, remote controls and keyless entry systems. Gary Evans, E-Mech Divisional Manager at Astute Electronics, said: “These switches were designed to address the requirements of next-generation miniature portable electronic devices. The high operating force prevents unwanted actuation, which can be critical for wearables and keyless entry fobs.”
The long 500,000 life cycle suits the demanding performance specifications of portable electronic devices. And with a footprint of only 3.5 by 2.6mm and a height of just 1.4mm, the PTS830 switches deliver reliable switching performance in the small spaces found in next-generation wearable electronic devices. Devices are top-actuated, momentary action devices with a single pull single throw (SPST), normally open configuration. Rated for 12V DC and 50mA, the switches are available with actuation force options of 160 and 450gf, and with operating life cycles of 200,000 or 500,000. Travel distance is 0.15mm ±0.1mm with a typical bounce time down to 10ms. Rated operating temperature is -40°C to +85˚C.
Contact resistance is up to 100mΩ and insulation resistance 100MΩ or above. They are suitable for reflow soldering in accordance with IEC61760-1.
