The use of nuclear energy will do nothing to stop the problems caused by our society's over-reliance on carbon fuels to power our transport systems.
You can't run a car or a truck on nuclear energy, and until we get serious about weaning ourselves off petrol and diesel we will always be exposed to the risk of being held hostage by oil producers and pay their price — or see our economy grind to a halt.
I really do not think that the world's car manufacturers have realised how serious this problem is and invested sufficient money in alternative engine systems.
After all, it suits them to keep selling us the same old tried-and-tested cars. But systems such as battery power and hydrogen fuel cells are the only way we are going to move on from the dominance of petrol.
