My colleagues and I are becoming increasingly irritated at the positioning of Jeremy Clarkson as a champion of engineering — if you read his Wikipedia biography you'll see what we mean.
Modern engineering is increasingly inspired by energy and urban policy at both national and regional level, not by people who used to race cars at Brooklands, or some other clubby identity.
Can we make some progress on the identification and subsequent publication/interview of appropriate people for the title of champion of engineering and replace Top Gear's Clarkson? It is long overdue.
