UK engineering companies face many difficulties but one of the biggest is finding qualified, experienced engineers. Fewer students choose engineering as a career and the number of graduates cannot sustain UK engineering industries.
Fortunately there is an alternative source of qualified and experienced engineers in the UK. We realised this a few years ago and have been working on a way for UK employers to access them.
We are a charity that works with refugees and have set up a database, www.refugee-engineers. org.uk. We have many engineers from all types of skills registered with us. A high proportion have UK qualifications, as well as ones from their own countries.
