Come clean

Your correspondent D Cook, who thinks that technology is going to solve the problem of hospital hygiene (

) is wrong.

The solutions are all very 'low-tech', which means they are inexpensive (good) but need responsible behaviour by humans to implement them (not so good).

That means washing hands when entering hospitals, following basic hygiene procedures when there and making sure that cleaning is thoroughly carried out.

Anyone who has observed the behaviour of many visitors to our hospital wards will know that this is unlikely to happen.

If, however, there is technology that can help stop a significant section of the UK population behaving like idiots then that might work.
