Engineering is a vital component that addresses our future needs. Furthermore, with the current adverse trading conditions and challenging customer requirements, the development and sustainment of innovative technology is gaining in importance. To do this affordably we need to share best practice and maximise the capability of our technology by combining our skills and resources. Within BAE Systems we make working with our customers, industry, small to medium sized enterprise (SME) and academic communities central to our future technology needs. Only by working together can we realise the investments that each have made and offer the best value for our customers.
For this reason we are pleased to sponsor The Engineer’s Technology and Innovation Awards for the third year running, as they help to highlight the wealth of capability that exists and demonstrate that the focus on innovation remains strong at all levels in the UK. Serving as a judge at these awards I have been privileged to read a wide range of innovative proposals covering topics as diverse as space exploration and the sewerage network. All are unique, though they all share a common passion for their topic and a hunger for success.
Along with my fellow judges, I would like to congratulate everyone that took part in the 2009 event.
