After reading the editor’s leader ‘The auto industry is not the enemy’ (
Comment, 29 October) I hurt my head following repeated banging on the desk. Reading the Comment doesn’t usually make me respond in such a way, but I’ve had an epiphany. For the last few years I have been labouring under a misconception.
I believed information concerning power usage on white goods, and dietary labelling on food were there to help me make an informed decision on my purchases.
But it appears not. The legislators have been trying to demonise these industries in a thinly-veiled attempt to stop me buying food and washing machines. Now they are trying to stop me buying cars. Whatever next?
