A compelling mix of low carbon innovations, productivity-enhancing manufacturing breakthroughs, game-changing STEM initiatives and inspiring individuals were amongst the winners at the second annual Engineering & Manufacturing Awards, which came to its conclusion this week (4th September) in central London.
Organised by the engineering portfolio of leading publishing and events business MA Business, the EMAs were Launched to celebrate the projects, teams, people and companies at the heart of the UK engineering and manufacturing sectors.
Attended by around 300 professionals from across industry, this year’s winners’ party (held at London’s salubrious Grosvenor Square Marriott Hotel) was an impressive celebration of the breadth and variety of UK industry, and saw firms across the value chain - from well-known OEMs to the unsung heroes of the UK’s vibrant SME community - receive an array of awards.

Amongst the winning projects and teams, Cambridge Vacuum Engineering walked away with the coveted manufacturing technology innovation award whilst a pioneering system for harvesting drinking water from the atmosphere won R&D Project of the year.
Elsewhere, forklift specialist Combilift walked away with two prizes: Design Team of the Year (for its work on the development of a system for transporting wind turbine components) and Industry Leader (for its inspirational CEO, Martin McVicar) whilst young aerospace engineer Sloane Helicopters' Rosie Plane was the recipient of this year's Rising Star Trophy.
