Weston to supply aerofoils for Rolls-Royce

has announced an agreement worth in excess of £100 million to supply

with a wide range of compressor aerofoils over the next five years.

The Lancashire-based company will manufacture and supply aerofoils in titanium, nickel based alloys or aluminium. They will be used for engines in the Trent family, V2500 singled-aisled Airbus engine and mature engine programmes.

To fulfil the contract, Weston will invest in a further 10 five-axis machining centres, bringing the company’s total to 27.

Weston’s Managing Director Richard Sutton said the contract would safeguard the jobs of employees involved in the work for the foreseeable future.

He said, “We have invested a substantial amount and will continue to invest over the next 12 months. Both ourselves and Rolls-Royce are equally delighted that we have been able to commit to a partnership of this magnitude and it will give us a high level of confidence within the company for years to come.”
