U93 force transducer enables real-time quality control
The U93 from HBM is a compact force transducer for tensile and compressive forces with nominal (rated) forces of 1 kN, 2 kN, 5 kN, 10 kN, 20kN, and 50kN. Typical applications of the U93 force transducer are force-displacement monitoring during press fitting, clinching or riveting as well as press force monitoring, for example, during crimping.
Made of stainless steel and provided with a cable suitable for drag chains, the U93 features a small measuring displacement, high robustness and insensitivity to lateral forces. Flanges on both sides enable easy installation.
The “intelligent” TEDS (Transducer Electronic Data Sheet) transducer electronics is integrated into U93. Used in conjunction with appropriate equipment, such as the digiCLIP digital amplifier or the MP85A press-fit controller, TEDS enables “Plug and Play”. When used in this way users save time and money because manual amplifier setup is not needed as the correct units and scaling are automatically used for measurement.
Force transducers are used for monitoring, for example, the rate of force rise, peak force or synchronous force-displacement curves during production. This real-time monitoring ensures consistent and high quality of the manufacturing process thus reducing or totally eliminating re-working or scrapping costs.
