Deutsche Bahn has awarded Alstom contracts worth up to €425m for the design and manufacture of up to 180 Coradia LINT regional trains.
The contracts are part of the on-going modernisation of Deutsche Bahn’s fleet of regional trains.
Diesel-engined trainsets made up of one, two or three coaches, the trains will be designed and manufactured at Alstom’s site in Salzgitter, Germany.
According to Alstom, Coradia LINT trains can operate at speeds up to 120km/h and carry up to 200 passengers.
Since the 2000 launch of the first regional trains in the Coradia LINT range, Alstom has sold 425 trains in Germany, the Netherlands and Denmark. In Germany, Deutsche Bahn has already ordered 143 Coradia LINT vehicles.
