Torotrak has agreed to provide Mumbai, India-based Tata Motors with the rights to apply Torotrak’s full-toroidal traction drive technology to a range of its products.
Under the terms of the licence, Tata Motors will be able to use Torotrak technology in applications such as passenger cars, light commercial vehicles, medium and heavy commercial vehicles and construction equipment. Tata Motors will also have the right to manufacture and sell transmissions to other customers of Torotrak in the Indian market.
The financial details of the agreement are yet to be unveiled, and the licence is subject to formal approval by the Indian government.
