ROCOL Lubricants is celebrating the completion of its 1000th ROCOLcare lubrication management survey with the UK's largest independent ice cream manufacturer, Frederick's Dairies.
The award-winning Frederick's Dairies produces innovative ice cream products for brand leaders including Cadbury and Del Monte. The firm's Skelmersdale site, near Liverpool, produces a range of hand-held products from five production lines and has been a ROCOLcare customer for the last five years.
Having recently opened a new, fully automated production facility at Simonswood, Liverpool, Frederick's asked ROCOL to run a ROCOLcare survey at the new site and develop a lubrication management programme to ensure that equipment continues to run at maximum efficiency.
The Simonswood factory houses a state-of-the-art tub manufacturing line, which uses Europe's largest freezers to produce 16,000 litres of ice cream every hour and freezes the products in the world's largest spiral freezer.
Says Paul McKenzie, maintenance engineer at Frederick's: "We've seen the benefits that ROCOL's structured lubrication management system can deliver at our Skelmersdale site, so there was no question about getting the new site onto the ROCOLcare programme.
"ROCOL worked closely with us to run the initial survey, reviewing the lubricants in use across the manufacturing plant, application methods and frequency of application. From there, they developed a bespoke lubrication management package for the site designed to deliver maximum machine life and minimal downtime."
ROCOLcare was launched six years ago to help food manufacturers and processors in the food and drink industry streamline lubrication management.
The system has gone from strength to strength, evolving over the years to match customer needs.
To date, the programme has helped hundreds of food and drink processors across the world save millions of pounds, and it continues to evolve as ROCOL works with customers to find new ways of helping them get the most out of their machinery and lubrication spend.
Says Brendan Kendrick, ROCOL maintenance lubricants business unit manager, "Completion of this 1000th survey with Frederick's represents a significant landmark for ROCOLcare and illustrates how far we have come since the programme's launch. But we never stand still, and in the next few months we shall be announcing some exciting developments to the programme which will deliver further benefits to Britain's food and drink manufacturers."
