The UK and European markets are now open for Tevva, a Tilbury-based company that has started to deliver its electric trucks to customers including Expect Distribution, Travis Perkins and Royal Mail. The company said it expects to sell up to 1,000 electric trucks in 2023.
The certification has been achieved for the EU and UK with the Vehicle Certification Agency (VCA) and the Swedish Transport Agency (STA). To receive whole vehicle type approval, the Tevva electric truck underwent 30 system tests, including electric safety and electromagnetic compatibility.

“We had prepared extensively for the tests during the development phase of the vehicle so went into the certification phase with high confidence that we would be successful,” said Tevva’s Seth Peacock, head of whole vehicle engineering and responsible for type approval. “There were some challenging moments during the development of the vehicle though, as you would expect with a relatively new team working on implementation of new technology in this sector. But the team worked through the challenges and delivered an excellent product that we are all very proud of at the end of the process.”
Tevva’s 7.5t electric truck offers up to 140 miles from its 105kWh battery on a single charge. It will be followed in 2023 by a 7.5t hydrogen-electric truck, whose hydrogen range-extender boosts vehicle range to up to 354 miles.
