The 50MWe CFB steam generator is designed to burn bituminous coal as well as tires and sludge. Construction is scheduled to begin in 2009 with the generator expected to be operational in 2011.
Byron Roth, chief executive officer of Foster Wheeler Power Group Asia, said: 'The ability to burn alternative fuels that would otherwise go to landfills was paramount in YFY's decision to select Foster Wheeler as the supplier.'
The terms of the agreement have not yet been disclosed, but the value of the contract will be included in the company's bookings for the third quarter of 2008.
