With a focus on green energy, the Techno Electric Group already has 95MW of operational wind-power projects, which were set up and are operated by Suzlon, in the states of Tamil Nadu and Karnataka.
Now, the group plans to scale up its wind-power assets further and has signed a business agreement with Suzlon as its preferred supplier for the development of 500MW of new capacity. The 202.2MW order is part of the agreement, which is claimed to be the single largest deal in the Indian wind-power business.
The order comprises 24 of Suzlon’s S88 2.1MW wind turbines, 34 units of its S82 1.5MW wind turbines and 48 units of its new S95 2.1MW wind turbines.
The first phase of development will see 101.4MW of capacity commissioned in the state of Tamil Nadu by June 2011, followed by an additional 100.8MW of capacity that will be commissioned by December 2011.
