The
Siemens Industrial Solutions and Services Group(I&S) is to equip a new continuous annealing line of the Chinese company,
Maanshan Iron & Steel(MaSteel), with automation technology and electrical systems.
The order has a value of 10.6 million Euros and commissioning is scheduled to start in the autumn of 2006.
For its new continuous annealing line, with a capacity of 937,000 tonnes per year, Siemens is supplying all the drive systems, the basic automation including automatic elongation control for the built in skin-pass mill as well as the instrumentation and control system for strip cleaning.
The project is being handled by a consortium which includes the French companies VAI Clecim and Stein Heurtey. Later servicing of the continuous annealing line will be provided by Siemens with the support of the Metals Service Centre, which was recently opened in
