Siemens China has received a multi-million euro order from China Communications Construction Company (CCCC) to provide the electrical equipment for a heavy lift carrier with a carrying capacity of 20,000dwt.
The equipment package includes the propulsion system, a medium-voltage distribution system, a power management system and the automation system.

Siemens said the new heavy lift carrier will also be fitted with a diesel-electric propulsion system.
The main propulsion will have two shaft drive units, each with an electrical output of 4,900kW.
Two bow thrusters, each with an output of 800kW, ensure good manoeuvrability.
The electric motors will be supplied with power through Sinamics converters.
Siemens is supplying three 4800kVA generators to provide electrical power on board.
A medium-voltage switchgear unit, two medium-voltage distribution transformers and a power management system round off the electrical power supply equipment.
The Siship Imac ship automation system, which will perform monitoring, alarm and control functions for the electrical equipment on board, will collect and process around 2,000 signals.
The ship's crew will be able to access all the monitoring and control functions from consoles on the bridge and in the engine room.
It will also be possible to pilot the ship via a joystick system.
Siemens is also responsible for project management, engineering and commissioning of the entire electrical equipment.
All the systems and components used are part of the ‘Siship’ solution platform from Siemens.
