Seoul medical equipment

The Catholic Medical Center in Seoul, South Korea has ordered 70 items of medical equipment from Siemens Healthcare in a deal valued at approximately €28m.

Worth around €28m (£22m), the order is said to be one of the biggest of its kind in the medical industry worldwide.

Siemens will equip radiology, nuclear medicine, oncology, cardiology and emergency medicine departments in the eight hospitals that make up the Catholic Medical Center.

Siemens has also signed a service contract with the Catholic Medical Center for maintenance, upkeep and permanent monitoring of the equipment.

One of the eight hospitals, Seoul St Mary's Hospital is still under construction and will be Korea’s biggest hospital once it is opened in April 2009. The Catholic Medical Center will then become a multi-medical science complex that will facilitate research and accommodate up to 2,000 patients.

Systems being supplied by Siemens include magnetic resonance and computer tomography scanners, angiograph, X-ray, fluoroscopy and ultrasound machines, as well as equipment for nuclear medicine, mammography and radiation therapy.
