Rolls-Royce
has been awarded a contract from
ExxonMobilfor gas turbine packages for an offshore
project in one of the most prolific oil and gas regions in the world.
Two 40,000 horsepower RB211-6562 gas compression units will be supplied for the East Area NGL II Project, to work alongside five identical units ordered in 2003 for the East Area Additional Oil Recovery (AOR) Project.
The Rolls-Royce equipment will be used in conjunction with a gas expander to recover the natural gas liquids (NGL) from the multiple reservoirs in the East Area fields, some 32 kilometres offshore
Gas from the fields will also be used to fuel the turbines, minimising gas flaring from six joint-venture East Area fields.
