The Finnish phone giant Nokia has launched a competition that seeks to reward those who can come up with innovative game concepts for its phones.
The worldwide Mobile Games Innovation Challenge, with €70,000 in prizes, aims to encourage the development of unique concepts in mobile gaming from developers of all backgrounds and all levels.
Sponsored by Nokia Publishing, the Challenge invites developers to submit mobile gaming concepts that rely on the features and functions of N-Gage compatible devices, and Java- or Symbian-based Series 40 or S60 devices from Nokia.
The three most innovative game concepts will be offered prizes of €40,000, €20,000, and €10,000 and Nokia Publishing pre-production contracts, so that they can be developed further.
Developers wishing to compete can submit their game concepts online at http://developer.n-gage.com/innovation. Contestants are encouraged to enter more than one mobile gaming concept.
Deadline for submission of all applications is August 20, 2008 at 11:59pm GMT. The winners will be announced during a special award ceremony at the Nokia Games Summit in Rome, Italy, October 29-30, 2008.
