SUEZ has signed an agreement with the French Atomic Energy Commission (CEA) to cooperate on the research and development of nuclear energy.

The five-year agreement, renewable for three-year periods, includes research on fourth generation nuclear reactors, the improvement of reactor performance and security, waste management and decommissioning.

As the owner and operator of two nuclear electricity production sites with seven nuclear reactors in Belgium, SUEZ has experience in the development of nuclear energy from its conception to the decommissioning.

The CEA’s expertise lies in the research and development of all areas of nuclear energy, and it has helped industry leaders in France and abroad in activities such as the management of the fuel cycle and the development of technical solutions for handling radioactive waste.
