The multifunctional PSR-ESD-30 safety relay from Phoenix Contact offers two instantaneous and two delayed release contacts in a package with a total width of just 22.5 mm. These are suitable for monitoring emergency stop and safety door circuits as well as for light barrier monitoring applications. Other than setting the delay time to a value between 0.1 and 30 seconds, no further adjustments are necessary. These relays are practical in safety applications in machine and plant engineering where processes first have to be halted before an employee is permitted to enter the hazardous area. For example, a motor is first braked until it comes to a complete standstill. Once the braking time expires, the drive is safely shut down and the safety door is unlocked so that the machine can be accessed.
