Mercury to acquire Echotek

News

Mercury Computer Systems has signed an agreement to purchase Echotek Corporation for around $49 million.

Based in Huntsville, Alabama, Echotek develops a range of board-level products for analog-to-digital conversion (A/D), digital-to-analog conversion (D/A), high- performance input/output (I/O), and specialized digital signal processing.

The purchase seems a natural one for Mercury, since greater than 40% of Echotek's products are integrated into subsystems alongside those of Mercury itself.

Echotek’s product line is available in various form factors including PCI, VME, and PMC. Echotek also supports the RACEway and RapidIO fabrics, which ease the integration of Echotek mixed-signal modules into Mercury's computer systems.

Echotek revenue for the fiscal year which ended on December 31, 2004 was approximately $16 million.

The deal, which is still subject to certain closing conditions, is expected to be completed in the third quarter of 2005.
