Last week we asked about the best way to increase the UK’s proportion of female engineers, and the results show an unequivocal rejection of imposing quotas at universities.
At one per cent, this was the least popular of the options given in our poll, followed by the nine per cent who agreed that industry should provide women with clearer routes to top positions in the profession.
Just over a fifth (21 per cent) agreed that greater emphasis should be given to the social benefits of engineering, and over half (56 per cent) thought that more prominence should be given to engineering in the curriculum.
A total of 13 per cent of our 328 votes went to the option None of the Above.
