has announced plans to establish a Knowledge Transfer Network (KTN) in order to create partnership opportunities for companies involved in the energy generation sector.

KTNs are funded by the Technology Strategy Board in order to help businesses innovate and put them in contact with the knowledge and funding they need to bring new products onto the market.

According to the Technology Strategy Board, with the exception of low carbon and fuel cell networks, energy generation does not have a dedicated KTN.

The board has invited organisations with experience in knowledge transfer networks to participate in a workshop that will help set up this network.

Filomena LaPorta, the Technology Strategy Board’s lead technologist for energy generation and supply, said: ‘The decision to establish this new network follows a recent review of the KTN programme.

'This identified a couple of gaps in the KTN portfolio.

‘While a number of networks are active in parts of the energy innovation landscape, there is no dedicated network delivering knowledge exchange activity in energy generation and supply, which is a priority sector for the Technology Strategy Board.’
